Fergus Gaines Cup

The Fergus Gaines cup is awarded annually to the best performing student in the selection test for the Irish Team for the International Mathematical Olympiad.

In 2014 the cup was awarded to Luke Gardiner and the presnetation took place at the annual scientific meeting of the Society at Queens University Belfast on September 5th.

In 2013 the cup was awarded to Oisín Faust, and the presentation took place on August 27th at NUI Maynooth at the conclusion of the annual scientific meeting of the Society.

In 2011 the presentation took place on August 29th in the John Holland Lecture Theatre, University of Limerick

Dr Kevin McGerty (University of Oxford), Colin Egan and Dr David Conlon (University of Oxford).

Kevin represented Ireland at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1992 and 1993. Colin represented Ireland at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2009 and 2010. David represented on the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1998 and 1999. Kevin and David were invited speakers at the 2011 IMS meeting.
